Tuchthuis

De gebouwen van het Tuchthuis werden op het einde van de 18de eeuw opgetrokken. Daar werden criminelen, prostituees, landlopers en deserteurs opgesloten. De gevangenen leerden er een ambacht of een beroep. De gebouwen werden ook gebruikt voor psychisch gestoorden en als militair hospitaal. Het leger nam het Tuchthuis over na 1920 als opleidingscentrum en verliet het in 1974. In de jaren 80 kocht de stad het hele complex voor renovatie en in 2009 werd de site geïnaugureerd. Er bestaat nog 1 gang in een originele staat die voor het publiek wordt geopend tijdens de open monumentendagen. Bezoek met dank aan Luc -Vilvoordeanno.be

House of Perdition

Au milieu d'une route se trouve une petite maison. Elle a été abandonnée suite à un incendie. Un lieu qui respire la tristesse et le souvenir de toute une vie. Ergens in het midden van een baan staat een klein huisje. Deze werd verlaten na een brand. Een locatie vol verdriet die de herinneringen van een heel leven uitstraalt.

In the middle of a road is a small house. It was abandoned as a result of a fire. A place that breathes sadness and the memory of a lifetime.

En el medio de una carreteras se encuentra una pequeña casa. Fue abandonada después de un incendio. Un lugar que rezuma tristeza y recuerdos de toda una vida.

 

L'Expropriation

Ce quartier m'a fait penser à DOEL. Sauf que cela ce passe en Wallonie et qu'ici c'est l'aéroport qui veut agrandir. Et comme c'est normal, tout le monde doit partir. Qu'on le veuille ou pas.

Deze locatie herinnerde me DOEL. Behalve dat het gebeurd in Wallonië waar de luchthaven wilt vergroten. En aangezien het normaal is moet iedereen weg, willen of niet.

Bureau d'étude

This building was the administrative headquarters and the engineering office of an old boiler-making industrie that today is demolished. The still present meubilair tells his story, and the decadence presents in some places are very interesting to photograph. The visit was done without too much trouble.

Second visit of this place which attracted me for the beautiful old drawing tables. They are still there, forgotten in a corner. I do not know what is expected of this building, but it will probably end up on the ground like the factory next door! Some tags have appeared since my first visit which limits the point of view of the large room. 

Old Mill

Some weeks ago I wandered into this abandoned building located on and drowned land. And the histories behind abandoned location are always so sad. Enkele weken geleden trad ik dit verlaten pand die op een verdronken grond staat. Telkens zijn de verhalen rond deze ruines vol heimwee.

Il y a quelques semaines j’ai visité ce vieux moulin à eau abandonnée sur une terre noyée. Et à chaque fois les histoires de ces ruines sont pleines de mélancolie.

Station Vilvoorde

The pretty Station of Vilvoorde will know soon her long-awaited renovation. This neo-Renaissance station was built in 1882. Despite its decay, she will loose her charm after this renovation.

La Factoria

An abandoned factory, empty and forgotten in the middle of a residential area. She timidly awaiting her ultimate fate. Demolition without any discussion possible.

De Weverij ... impressionante

This spinning factory was impressive both by the presence of these old weaving machines as the lot op persons present on the location to immortalize it.

It appears that the site has been emptied of these machines and other weaving products and that the site will be or has been demolished.

 

Filature N

Weaving factories are closed here and open up elsewhere in the world ! One aspect of the economic crisis. An empty spinning factory where there is no more machinery. Machines that have probably flown to other places, taking with it the hope of the local workforce ! Only remains a desk adorning a world map sadly crumbling, like the remains of this great spinning.

 

La Sucrerie

Visit made thanks to a notary friend. She is not really abandoned, but she is waiting for a new tenant and activity.

John Cockerill Belgium

Cockerill qui signe l'industrie métallurgique Belge aux alentours de 1850, est l'usine la plus importante du monde, et la société fait de la Belgique la deuxième puissance économique du monde, derrière le Royaume-Uni.

Malheureusement sur fond de crise économique mondiale et de baisse de la demande d'acier, Arcelor-Mittal annonce fin 2011 la fermeture de la quasi-totalité de la phase à chaud de Cockerill. Les deux hauts-fourneaux de Seraing nr 6 et d’Ougrée (HFB), ainsi que l’aciérie et les coulées continues de Chertal sont condamnés. 

Ma visite c'est uniquement limité au site du HFB de Ougrée, le HF6 de Seraing est démantelé et sera dynamité fin 2016. La visite du site HFB c'est fait en groupe pour des raisons de sécurité.

Documentaire sur la relance en 2008 du haut-fourneau 6 du groupe sidérurgique mondial ArcelorMittal, à Seraing (Liège, Belgique). 

Six mois plus tard le groupe Mittal décidait l'arrêt provisoire du HF6. Ce dernier n'a plus jamais fonctionné. Il a été dynamité le 16 décembre 2016.

En son temps ce dancing était le place to be de la région. Fermé depuis plus de 25 ans, il était souvent utilisé en période de carnaval. En 2013 il à été la proie des flammes. Selon les voisins l'immeuble aurait été acheté par un promoteur pour un futur projet de logements.
